SOHO20 Chelsea is pleased to announce "Conversations and Dialogues," an exhibition of Kathy Stark's new series of mixed media paintings. Stark's new body of work reflects the artist's continued interest in patterning, ornamentation and repetition. In her pieces, the artist superimposes written words upon collaged stripes of wallpapers, decorative papers, wrapping papers, photographs, and journal pages in order to create patterns. Each work comes to portray a conversation, a memory or a story, which is often alluded to through the title. After living in Manhattan and Nantucket Island, in 2000 Stark moved to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont where she lives today. She has exhibited widely both regionally and nationally, was the 2007 recipient of the France Lieber Award from the National Association of Women Artist and has currently received the Vermont Arts Council Development Grant. She is represented in numerous private collections, among which are; The Vermont State Art Collection, Mobil Corp, Chemical Bank, Bell Laboratories, A.T.& T. Smithsonian Institute, Sidney Lewis Foundation, and Chase Manhattan Bank. This is her second solo exhibit at SOHO20 Chelsea.
