SOHO2O Chelsea Gallery is pleased to announce Small Works 2007, a salon-style exhibition to benefit the gallery's Fellowship Fund. The SOHO20 Chelsea Gallery Fellowship Program allows for deserving, under-represented female artists to become gallery members for two years. During that time the artist has all the benefits and privileges of a SOHO20 membership, including a solo show in our established gallery space and participation in a gallery group show. The Fellowship program further provides emerging artists with the opportunity to work with more established artists, to learn the workings of an artist-run gallery, and to build relationships with other art professionals. A percentage of sales from Small Works 2007 will go towards the Fellowship Fund. SOHO20 Chelsea was founded in 1973 as a non-profit, artist-run organization devoted to the mission of increasing public awareness of the excellence and diversity of womenÕs art. Thirty-four years later, SOHO20 Chelsea has provided a space for over one hundred emerging female artists to have their first NYC solo exhibitions. Continuing with the gallery's commitment to diversity, Small Works 2007 features various artists from multiple backgrounds. Without restriction on medium, Small Works 2007 further provides an opportunity for both emerging and established artists, male and female, to exhibit their work in a New York gallery space. SOHO20 Chelsea is now one of the oldest organizations in the U.S. created to address the under-representation of work by women in museums and galleries.
